I was almost skipping around the store on my toes, my veins pumping with adrenaline and an unnerving excitement that made me so restless as I looked through the books. The minute I reached got to the next Aisle and reached for the Red Kingdom series; The Rise Of The Red Kingdom, The Fall of the Red Kingdom, and Fire and Ice, I felt it again. And this time, it was more intense. It felt like someone was drilling holes into my back with their eyes, causing goosebumps to sprout on my skin. My muscles locked and my hand was almost giving away the pile of books in my hands.

“She’s Queen, mated to King Edric. But she has no wolf. Yet she commands magic unlike anything I’ve ever seen. Fire. Water. She’s strong, but it’s more than strength. A being of wolf and celestial blood. She was not born; she was created.” I stiffened. “The Moon Queen, wasn’t it?”

Though their features were beautiful, there was an eerie quality to them, their movements unnaturally smooth and precise. Roz arrived last, her entrance marked by a faint crackle of energy. She had opted for clothes this time—a sleek, form-fitting dress that clung to her curves like a second skin. Her silver hair spilled down her back in waves, and her violet eyes sparkled with defiance as she met Thanion’s gaze. Thanion’s voice was low, each word laced with quiet fury. “Chryson, explain to me how Roz was able to gain access to Persephone’s chambers.”

A smile, forced but determined, swept across her face as she went to find Andrea. When they were together, it was impossible to ignore that they were sisters. Both had caramel skin and thick curls, and turned heads in any room. The difference, however, was in their eyes. Andrea’s hazel eyes were a warm, golden hazel, the color of caramelized sugar, while Jackie’s eyes, one brown, one dark green, held a fractured beauty, like their mother’s heterochromia; it made her unforgettable.

Queen Elena was the same age as Kira, she was beautiful and graceful, a pure definition of a perfect Queen. Her expression was soft and always filled with warmth, Kira hoped that they will be able to get along in the future, she liked the Queen a lot. Kira was thinking too much that she didn't realize they had arrived in front of the Queen's Chambers. Sera knocked on the door and soon received a small reply to come in. The Queen's room was decorated in blood red, the curtains, bed sheets, carpets, and even furniture were of the same color, the blend of red was a bit chilling because it gave off a dark vibe. The Queen smiled at Kira when she walked in.

They only respond when I summon them. The girls and Annalise sat down in front of me to listen to my reading, even though Annalise could also read, she loved listening to me read them stories together. I enjoyed it too, reading to them was part of my therapy after becoming the Queen. It made me forget about the life I lived back in Ruqgu and the traumas that came with remembering them.

Lynnette growled in anger. “Oh! Please don't!” Elena exclaimed, her voice louder than usual. “That was the Queen mother! She'll have your head if you do!” “The Queen-...” Lynnette's words trailed off. So that's why she recognised her. Of course, all of the paintings of her had been when she was much younger. So that was Fenryn's mother. Truthfully, Lynnette had expected her to be much more like Fenryn. A little soft, but kind and compassionate. It was obvious that Fenryn took after her a great deal in looks. The woman's blonde hair and blue eyes matched his; even if they were aged by time.
