Then the camera shifts, and there he is. Drave. My half-brother, seated on the throne that should be mine, a triumphant smile plastered on his face. He wears my crown, adjusting it on his head as if testing how well it suits him. Pride and satisfaction radiate from him, every word of his speech a direct assault on my honor, on my rightful claim to rule Veridiana.

“And I suppose you already have a plan?” Sienna’s lips quirked into a faint smile. “I do.” She turned her gaze toward the throne, the shadows around it pulsing in response. “The First King was right. Someone must take the throne to bind the world anew. But it won’t be a sacrifice.” She lifted a hand, and the air crackled. “It will be a beginning.” A deep, resonant hum echoed through the Hollow Realm as the throne shifted. The jagged stone smoothed, reshaping into something more defined, more absolute. The fractures in the sky seemed to pulse in time with it, as if responding to her will.

North patted her hand quickly to share her joy. “Milo, as in the bloody second prince to the Haedran throne?” Thorne thundered the words, and his face was so red it looked like he might explode in flame for a moment. “I won’t have it. You’re through with him. Do you hear me?” He shouted the question.

The glow of the moon haloed his crown, but it could not penetrate the darkness clinging to him. “You left the door open,” the child whispered. From beneath the throne, darkness pulsed—alive, growing, spreading. The vision shattered. Scene 2: Gathering the Guardians Iris gasped as reality snapped back around her. The air was colder. Aiden rushed to her side. “What did you see?” “The Hollow Throne,” she murmured. “It’s real. It’s awakening. If it’s fully opened, he’ll be lost.” Aiden’s expression hardened. “Then we need to seal it. But how?”

At the far end stood a throne shaped from bones and black coral. The child floated above it. The false king lowered the Tide Crown onto the throne. “It remembers its first master.” Raiken pushed himself upright. “That throne does not belong to you.” The false king laughed. “No.” The child opened her mouth. A man’s voice came from her body. “It belongs to me.” The red water climbed the steps. Her small shape stretched. Bones lengthened. Silver hair darkened into a river of black. When her feet touched the throne, she was no longer a child.

Kaelen said, giving me his cloak. As we walked I felt like I was seeing ghosts. Every tree and hill reminded me of the past. We got to the coal place just before the sun went down. It was empty and cold. It was better than being outside. Jaxon made a fire. We sat around it not saying much. We were all thinking about what happened at the Amber Palace. "They will look for the crown " Malachi said. "Silas will not stop. He wants to use it to control the wolves."
