his father spat and tossed back the rest of his drink. "Stay away from that girl," "Or what?" Garin challenged him. "Or it will be the end of her, you or both. The Red Hoods don't associate with shifters," he stalked from the room. Garin looked at the large book in front of him as if it were diseased. It appeared to be an encyclopedia of sorts. The Red Hoods emblem, a hood encircled by a bow and arrow, was embossed on the front in faded gold filigree.

Like finding hope in the midst of her resignation. She was pulling out a drawer when her fingers touched something on the outer bottom of the drawer. A brown folder with adhesive around it. Thea carefully opened the tape that sealed the folder. The piece of newspaper slid down the moment the folder opened. Thea picked it up and held it close under the candlelight. Her eyes widened. The yellow newspaper clipping in her hand revealed two blurry photos. A house that was engulfed in flames and a photo of its ruins after it was extinguished in large writing above the two photos:

With that, the hologram disappeared. Edom grinned his teeth. “That bitc-” He stopped when the red box opened, revealing a beautiful red poppy. Olive’s eyes widened. Red poppy symbolizes war. Suddenly, gasses smoked out of the poppy’s pot. “Crap. It’s poison, get out!” *** “Thaddeus, how are you?” Ashriel asked after turning off the hologram. Xieaniel who was operating remained silent. Leon grinned his teeth. Despite knowing how much he’s hurt, Ashriel still asked him.

Subject line: “Indemnity Agreements – Stage 5 Incidents.” Isolde leaned in. The body of the email read: “Our files on the girl have been digitally purged, per agreed silence f*e. Keep her out of press reach. Secure the mother if needed.” Attached: a contract. Signature redacted. But the watermark said it all. Velvet. Official. Stamped in wax. Isolde exhaled. “They didn’t just cover it. They paid to forget it.” Dorian froze mid-step. Penelope didn’t look up. “Want me to leak it?”

Silent, accurate. And then I saw it tucked in Kael’s limp grip. A letter, sides soaked in blood. The seal pressed into the wax sent ice through my blood. A crow, wings spread wide, drawn in red. The Crow symbol. Elara’s voice broke the quiet. “What… what does that mean?” I clenched the letter, my hand shaking. My mind roared with memories, with threats long hidden. “It means,” I whispered, eyes on the shadows that watched us still, “we’re already too late.”

--- Part I – The Leak A week after the Charter's ratification, Venara awoke not to bells but to silence. Silence heavier than mourning, stranger than peace. In the heart of the city, paper fluttered across cobblestones. Crimson seals adorned them—unmistakable: The Red Draft. Dozens of copies appeared overnight, nailed to doors, left on library shelves, and tucked into fruit crates. At first glance, they resembled official proclamations. But inside, they were weaponized narratives.

Everything in here was evidence and I didn’t want to ruin them by doing something unnecessary. “What the hell was this place for?” I asked, astounded. “Do you know what the hollow circle is?” He said quietly as if he was talking to himself and not me. “I think I heard Alpha Dale mention it? I’m not sure.” I answered. “What about it?” “Their signal is in here,” He pointed to the wall where the symbol of a red snake was biting its tail. “That is the symbol of the hollowed circle. That means this place is very important to them. It may be one of their meeting points.”

Alec couldn’t speak in too much irritation and probably, anger. His eyes were so red, like the color of evil itself. The color of blood and war. The color of death. Yes, red can symbolize love like that of a rose. But it could symbolize many things such as what I have mentioned already.
