Magic tightening like a net. He began to speak, chanting in an old tongue. But before the incantation could finish, the book burned. Flame shot up from the name — not wild, but deliberate. Purposeful. It didn’t destroy the page. It sealed it. The gold letters glowed red-hot before cooling into black glass. The Archivist stepped back, eyes wide. “The book has accepted her.” The woman Councilor snarled. “Then we’ll erase the page.” I stepped forward.

"Can you read any of it?" "Some." He turned another page, and another, and then stopped, his breath catching audibly in the quiet library. "Here. This survived." Sera looked where he pointed, and even in the dim light, even with half the page scorched black and unreadable, one line remained clear, ink dark and certain against the ruin around it. The old fire does not burn the world. It burns the lies. "What does that mean?" Sera's voice had dropped to barely more than breath. "The old fire, that's what you called mine before, isn't it? The Founder's fire?"

Blood sprayed across the underbrush. Ryker shifted late—too cocky, too slow. But he fought dirty. A swipe caught Link across the ribs. I screamed. And something inside me broke. The mark on my hand blazed. Fire erupted from my skin. Real fire. It curled around my arms like armor, danced down my spine, and poured from my mouth in a guttural scream that shattered the air. The wolves stopped. Even Ryker froze. I stepped between them, flames dancing in my eyes.

“I couldn’t find any other books that mention anything about the Fire God.” I slid my fingers closer, then stopped. My hand hovered over it. Maybe I should wait for the King to open it. I glanced sideways at him. He wasn’t smiling. Right now, his mouth was set, sharper than his eyes. “So,” I said, because silence was worse. “This book takes us where, exactly?” Jaxon looked at me for a long second before he shook his head and answered. “The Fire God’s territory.” My throat tightened. “Is it another planet?” I asked, pursing my lips.

Elena said. "Don't worry about me, just get the book." I said. She took the book and as soon as she had the book in her hands an inferno of fire covered Elena in a circle. "Turaste Teralado Infermina Tutulo." I said and the fire went out. "That was great, now let's go before the next element hits." Elena said. She didn't have to tell me twice. "Give me your hand." I said and she did as she was told.

Rico was confused as well, he knew that the green flame holder was Niffa, but what about the once beholder that the book is talking about? They continued reading the next page, it says,
