For the first time in his miserable life… He felt true regret.

“Is that what you're mad about?” Bewildered, I take a step back. “It's unfair. You're unfair. And right now, I don't like you.” Regret. Regret is what I feel immediately the words leave my mouth but I can't take it back. And just because I say so doesn't mean I don't mean it…he shouldn't just have to hear it.

I shrug at him and look up to meet his eyes. “The way you treated me; your reasons don’t make sense. You were so harsh, so cruel.” I say bitterly and he nods. “I have no good reasons. Just know I regretted my actions long before you became my mate.”

"Mom, you and Dad failed as parents. I'm just glad I wasn't raised by you and that I didn't end up like William. And forgiveness? That's not happening. "What really killed me was your indifference. If I had the choice, I'd wish I'd never been your child. But I won't let you die." I pressed my hand to her forehead and pulled away. "You'll live and spend the rest of your life drowning in guilt and regret." … I was sitting by the hospital window when Mom suddenly jolted awake. She ripped out her IV line and lurched off the bed, her face streaked with tears as she cried my name.

"You can't hold me out of my will. You can't do that!" Henry chuckled. "Watch me." He simply waved at Martins and Lauren was dragged now towards the guest room. “Diana will never come back to you!” she shouted over her shoulder as she was pulled away. “Never!” Her laughter echoed down the hallway until the door shut behind them. Silence fell heavily over the living room. Henry stood there for a moment, breathing hard. Then the anger drained out of him, leaving something much worse behind. Regret. He exhaled slowly and sank back into the couch. His elbows rested on his knees as he stared down at the floor.

“I never said before, but the truth is that night in Paris was one of the best nights of my life.” “But I had seen you were regretting, and you can’t deny that part.” “I won’t deny the regretting part. Yes, I was regretting but not because of what happened between us but by thinking about the future. I was regreeting because I knew after that incident, you would feel betrayed a little more than earlier after finding out the whole truth. I was regretting that I would end up causing more pain to you than earlier. I wasn’t upset with the last night incident, but I was upset with me.”

This is indeed a new beginning but I have no idea whether it is going to be a good beginning or a sad one filled with nothing but sorrow. ****

While marching past me, she said icily, “Just make sure you don’t regret this. I don’t give second chances.” “Okay.” I nodded. With my back straight, I walked into the night.

“Mum… he said he’s sorry.” Sarah nodded slowly. “I heard.” “Do you believe him?” Daniel asked. Her answer came after a long, thoughtful pause. “I believe he regrets,” she said. “And regret is a starting point. Not the end.” Daniel didn’t reply. He leaned his head back against the seat, folding his arms as though he wanted to keep the emotions from spilling. Sarah watched him out of the corner of her eye — the way he blinked more slowly, the way he bit down slightly on the inside of his cheek.
