Snapping my head up, I saw the familiar silhouette at the entryway. The long-absent voice of the System boomed. “Congratulations, Player. Your target’s affection has reached 100%. You have unlocked a Happy Ending.” Patrick bolted to his feet. Throughout the hall, mobile alerts started chiming one after another. Someone among the crowd exclaimed, “Look at the news!”

Third Person POV As soon as Lucas and his men cleared out of the court, the spell that had held everyone frozen in terror finally broke. The gymnasium erupted with movement as everyone else began to leave as well, desperate to escape the space that had just been the scene of such a frightening confrontation. The sound of footsteps and nervous conversations filled the air, replacing the tense silence that had dominated just moments before.

“Any rules?” He shrugged before replying. “I believe we are all mature. No expensive play that’ll possibly cause drowning and violence is prohibited.” Bobbing my head to show I understood, I returned my gaze to Maxwell, cracked my head and fingers before exclaiming. “Let’s begin!” “I’m going to show y’all who is boss,” Maxwell screamed and hauled himself onto the Unicorn’s back, causing it to dip violently. He windmilled his hands and stayed on. “And that's how it's done.”

I pulled my hand away with all the strength I had left. His face fell. "I know I went too far. I apologize," he said, a rare note of humility in his voice. He even offered a gentle smile. "The full moon ceremony is coming up. I can take you with me." In the past, that would have been a dream come true. To stand by his side, a united front for all to see. "I don't want to go," I said softly. Emory stared, unable to understand why I wasn't falling into his arms with joy like I used to. His tone hardened. "You have to go! It's your duty as Luna!"

But then Raven clarified her question. “Okay, but since I’m pretty sure no one has ridden a unicorn before, have you ever ridden anything like a unicorn before?” “Nope,” I said. “But it’s okay. Pearl won’t let me fall off.” “You’re braver than I am,” Melanie muttered. Again, we all had a laugh, but it didn’t take away from the seriousness of the situation. I still had to go tell the Flamingos that Jaye had moved their daughter without their permission.
