PATIENT ZERO -The lone survivor
Baraka’s head snapped up.
At the far end of the corridor, where the path led deeper into the bunker, a section of the ceiling slid open. With a mechanical whine, a heavy, automated sentry turret dropped down on a swivel mount. It was an ugly, brutal piece of pre-Starfall technology—a twin-barreled, high-caliber machine gun equipped with an archaic thermal targeting laser.
A bright red laser beam cut through the lingering dust, painting a glowing dot squarely on Baraka’s chest.
