It might not be necessary to shift, and it will be much easier to fight if I’m not wearing a dress. As soon as I’m dressed, I step outside and immediately hear a snarl. I turn to the left and there is a brown rogue wolf stalking towards me. You can always identify the rogues because they look mangey and deranged, like a dog who’s been abused and beaten. It landed on the windowsill of the nursery while I was rocking Luna Rose to sleep. Micah saw it first. "Mama, the scary bird is looking at us." I turned. The bird tilted its head. Attached to its leg was a small leather tube. I stood slowly, Luna Rose still in my arms, and crossed the room. The bird didn't flinch. Didn't fly away. It watched me with those red eyes, unblinking, until I removed the tube.

But just before it hit, a small voice rang out across the clearing. “Leave my mama alone!” Purple light exploded from the wooden cage. The bars shattered into a thousand pieces. I felt as though there was still so much more to see and do, but we had to get back to our responsibilities as royals.
