✿ CHAPTER 24 ✿ Leonard's car stopped right in front of my house. "Thank you, sir" I quickly got out of the car "Amelia" Leonard called out to me. "Yes?" I turned around I noticed him bringing out something from his suit pocket "Huh, how did you get this?" I thought I had lost my ID somewhere, what was it doing with Leonard? The car stopped at the entrance of Dark Moon pack's mansion. Leon, tall and imposing, stepped out of the car, exuding power and elegance. His Beta, Calvin, signaled for the men in their suits to alight from the following cars, following Leon toward the mansion. Up in the attic, I was peering from the terrace, watching the commotion below. In a momentary glance between Leon and me, I swiftly turned away. A sense of unease washed over me. Leon spotted me! That night, after coming back from Theo’s little party, Jason drove straight to the apartment where Claire and Leon were staying. Claire had told everyone she didn’t want to live in Leon’s big, quiet house, so she decided to rent an apartment not too far from the city center. Theo mentioned they lived on the 16th floor, so Jason got out of his car, stepped into the elevator, leaned back against the wall, and watched the floor numbers tick up until it stopped at sixteen.

It was Heather’s first time bringing Leon back to the Langston Residence, so the sight of them walking side by side naturally attracted the attention of other pedestrians. Excited, Leon spat some meaningless chatter as he scanned around the residence. “It’s like a medieval castle! Ha!” He laughed loudly as he was astonished by the residence, as if it was one of the iconic buildings in Bradfort City, although he might have been exaggerating. “Shut up,” Heather muttered furiously as she was triggered by Leon’s running mouth.

“Of course you do. Go on then, tell me.” Leon leaned forward, brushing his lips against my temple. “Come with me tomorrow. I want to show you something.” The next morning, Leon drove us to a secluded area just outside the city. The property was breathtaking—a modern yet cozy house perched on a hill, overlooking the water. Large windows let in the sunlight, and a wraparound porch made it feel impossibly inviting. I stepped out of the car, my breath catching. “Leon… this is…” He stuffed his hands into his pockets, watching me closely. “Do you like it?”

The big house looked dark from the outside, only dimly lit by a few night lights on the terrace and in the corridor. Leon parked his motorbike in the side garage, his breath quick with anticipation. He took the spare key from his pocket and carefully opened the side door of the house—the key creaked softly, but the house was silent, only the sound of the night wind and the chirping of crickets in the back garden. Mbok Siti must have already been asleep in her room at the back, and the other maids had gone home early. Leon slipped inside, his footsteps light on the cold marble floor, the familiar scent of the house—a mixture of old wood and Sonya's perfume—welcoming him.

SELENE’s POV Leonard was already awake when I arrived at his private residence at seven in the morning. That didn’t surprise me. In four years I had never once caught Leonard Arden unprepared for anything. He existed in a permanent state of readiness always. His housekeeper led me through the main corridor without a word. The residence was quieter than mine, and filled with the particular stillness of a space that had absorbed decades of careful thinking. Dark wood paneling, shelves lined with documents rather than decorative objects, everything functional and deliberate.
