Reverse Falls Mabel Novels & Stories

I switched to the hallway camera and there I was staggering down the lonely passage before entering the elevator. I waited, my pulse quickening. Just when I was about to fast-forward, there came Mabel in the company of an older woman. Stop. Back to the ballroom after I left. Mabel was the only one who noticed my discomfort. She’d tried to go after me when the older lady appeared, blocking her. Even through the footage, I could see Mabel’s unease especially when the woman touched her shoulders before the men seized her arms. My chair suddenly became too hot to sit. I jerked to my feet and watched them toss her into the elevator.

After tucking the blanket around her, he walked lightly toward Mabel. On the terrace, the moonlight was cold. "How did you get hurt?" Her hand was wrapped in gauze. When he noticed, the familiar concern returned to his face. Mabel pressed her lips together and looked at him with a faint smile. "I fell at the banquet. You were busy saving someone else. You did not see it." Anthony sighed and rubbed his brow. "I know I wronged you tonight. But you saw the situation. Cheryl had a severe stress reaction. If she had jumped, how would I face Zachary in death?

He didn't want this I could see that. "Why would I do that, this was just a way to get your attention, before the real party started" Mable giggled as she walked away. "Where the fuck are you going huh?, you coward" I yelled after her. Mable didn't turn around instead she left. Seriously? She just left? "It's just us now princess, I won't go easy on you" Carlos's wolf snapped at me. I took my stance ready to try and fight this massive grey wolf when Jax just fell from the sky and laughed. I was a little shocked to see him just fall and land on his feet like it was nothing but than again it's Jax.

Vanessa leaned closer. “You don’t belong here.” Nova smiled. “Funny.” She shoved Vanessa away. “That’s exactly what you told me before.” Vanessa charged again. Nova waited. At the last second, she moved aside. Vanessa missed. Nova grabbed her from behind and threw her across the ground. Vanessa rolled and immediately got back up. “You’re stronger than you look.” Nova wiped blood from the corner of her mouth. “So are you.” Vanessa snarled. “Then let’s see which one of us walks away.”

Everything felt wrong, fundamentally so—in a way that I couldn’t even begin to understand. I always thought that the hole leading to different dimensions was just flat, 2-D and you could get to your destination as soon as you walked in. I didn’t think it’d be this vast and complex. A way that made my human brain want to shut down completely. And then, suddenly, within the blink of an eye, we were falling. I screamed the entire way down until we slammed hard into the ground—actual, solid ground—and I sucked in a sharp breath of air so cold it burned my lungs. Snow. We’d landed in snow, the powder so deep it rose past my knees.

That afternoon, a disheveled Mabel cornered me in a café. She glanced around nervously, relaxing only when she confirmed Alain was not with me. I sized her up discreetly. She looked like she had just gone through something terrifying. Fear was evident in her eyes, and her mental state seemed precarious. "I'll give Alain back to you," she said, her voice trembling. "In exchange, I want one million dollars. Once I have the money, I'll disappear forever and never interfere in your marriage again."

She was going to help Noami clear the table. "The meal was delicious." Gabby said and Frederick agreed with him, "Yes, Noami is a good cook. I will be looking forward to eating her meal every time." Noami blushed slightly and began packing the plates. She accidentally spilled water from one of the glass cups on the floor and went into the kitchen. Kristen, unaware of the spilled water, walked after her, she took two steps and she slipped with everything in her hand flying. When she thought she was really going to fall, she crushed on a hard chest.

A mistake in the underlying code had triggered a crash in the chain system. The engineers were already overwhelmed. When they saw me walk in, their eyes held a mix of expectation and embarrassment. I didn’t respond to any of it. I sat down and connected to the system. Memories of every system upgrade and custom request Apex had gone through, buried deep in my mind, surged forward instantly. An hour later, the alarms stopped, and the data was restored. Mr. Johnson’s call came directly to my phone. “Lily, thank you! I knew you’d handle it!”

I looked back only to see Nana holding her chest with one hand, her face red. My heart stopped. I stood up from Iris immediately and ran towards her. Her face twisted in pain and her phone dropped to the ground. She swayed. Then collapsed. I ran faster, barely catching her before her body hit he ground. "Call 911" I yelled.

She staggered back, clutching her arm as blood trickled down her skin. The set erupted into chaos. Crew members rushed toward her, their faces pale with shock. “Someone call for help!” one assistant shouted, while others scrambled to assess the situation. “Olivia! Are you okay?” someone yelled, but the words felt muffled to her ears. The pain was sharp and immediate, sending waves of nausea through her. From the corner of her eye, she saw Marissa standing frozen, a look of disbelief on her face. It was as if she realized what she had done, but instead of concern, there was an unmistakable hint of satisfaction lurking beneath her expression.
