I couldn’t sleep, the feast was a poison in my blood, the memory of his hand on my neck, his breath in my ear, how my body had betrayed me and curved into his touch, it was all too much, so I ran out here, to this small forgotten balcony, to get air in my lungs that wasn't choking on his smell and the stench of his victory, and that's when I heard them, voices carried up from the courtyard below, his voice, but altered, stripped, and I leaned over the railing and saw him, Kael, without armor, without crown, just a man in the moonlight, his shoulders slumped, his head bent, and the look was so monstrous I near enough gave a great gasp.
