He did as told, and he closed the door, about to fasten his seatbelt, but the car suddenly sped up, the sound of its tires screeching against the pavement.
“Thomas, watch out!” Grace shouted, but it was late. The car hit them on Thomas’s side, hard enough to total the car, almost. He maneuvered the car, able to control it, and drove off to get away. Grace was looking to the back, and the other vehicle was following them.
She was afraid, tears streaming down her face. Thomas assured her everything would be okay as he briefly held her hand. He hated that he didn’t have his radio on him, and calling 911 was not in his mind at that moment.
