We were out of options, and it felt like the end. But then, another ear-piercing cry of agonising pain echoed through the realm. It was so loud, so visceral, that we both opened our eyes in shock. Black, sticky blood splattered over Rae, coating her fur and my vision with its dark, oily texture. In front of us, a larger demonic hellhound had appeared. It was a monstrous beast, even more terrifying than the winged creature. Its eyes glowed with an unholy light, and its jaws were filled with razor-sharp teeth. The hellhound had caught the winged beast in its powerful jaws and was tearing into it with a ferocity that was both horrifying and mesmerising.

Caterina nodded and started running toward the road, but before she got far, she heard voices and gunshots coming from the warehouse. Riddick, watching the scene from a strategic point, saw her running and let out a relieved breath. "Good girl. Now it’s my turn." He advanced into the warehouse, ready to deal with the kidnappers and make sure no one else got hurt. Riddick moved through the dark corridors, his weapon in hand and senses sharp. One of the kidnappers appeared at the end of the hallway and aimed a gun at him, but Riddick was faster. The shot was precise, taking the man down before he could fire.

“Hellhounds?” I ask, slowly, not sure if my hearing is working correctly. “What exactly are – I thought they were stories. I mean, aren’t they just myths?” I can hear the sounds of ripping flesh behind me and despite my identity as a wolf shifter along with the darker impulses it brings, the vicious tearing sounds from behind me make my blood curl. “Myths?” Their leader studies me. “Hellhounds are not myths. They are dangerous beasts. Intelligent and blood thirsty. They are also the best demonic trackers.”

His canines gleamed, dripping for death. His wolf lunged. Roman’s was ready—A white winter breed. They collided in the center of the room—over me. Blood filled the air as Roman’s snarl vanished. The Hellhounds were a pack that I would sure as shit rather not have anything to do with. They were nothing but trouble. Filthy rich but low-class lovers of mayhem with a long lineage in organized crime. Their Alphas were notorious for shuffling in and out of prison. They ran the show inside the prisons, too—mob bosses, you might call them.

The cacophony of yelling, swearing and angry complaints slammed into them the moment doors opened. Every syllable bounced off the wall aggressively, slicing through the air over and over. It was like walking into a dog pound. The silence was crushed into the dirt and the walls vibrated with every explosion of noise. Some of the men locked away began banging against the doors holding them in but their efforts were futile. The doors had been designed with shifters in mind and it would take a lot more than these pathetic excuses for shifters to take the doors down.

" The man with the hooded eyes stood up, and Millie watched as he leaned over his friend and reclined the chair he was sleeping in and covered him up with throw he dragged off the sofa. He walked over to stand in front of her and she had to tip her head right back to look into those eyes now. He held his hand out. “Nick Henderson, I’m sorry, I’d forgotten you were coming.” He made Millie feel rather nervous. She held her hand out and his large and warm hand engulfed hers and did nothing to ease the thought she might be making her acquaintance with a delicious and terrifying danger. Like walking into a tiger’s den.
