They looked like they were plucked right from the devil's side. The patchy black fur, red eyes, and skinny legs like a greyhound. They each wore a black or pink collar lined with metal spikes. Alaric flew up from Luther's viselike grip on his side, blood running down his torso, and he flicked his wrist, guiding the hounds toward a growling Luther.

Hellhounds formed a circle all around us, creating a hostile barrier between us and the clubhouse. "Is this how you plan to best me?" I growled, scowling upon him like the vermin he was. "By bringing these mongrels along to fight your battles?" Claw's eyes flitted around at the rogue wolves, and a drop of sweat trickled down his brow. If there was one thing dogs hated, it was the smell of fear. As much as I wanted to tear him limb from limb, I needed Gia to walk away from this as a free woman. She deserved better than this. If I executed him outright, they'd shoot us both. If I challenged him in front of them, I might just buy her ample time to get the fuck out of here alive.

Her beta shifts into a deep black wolf with fire-red eyes and black smoke coming off of her. Andricia lifts all four snouts to the sky and lets out a howl. Instantly, every pack member of hers shifts into the same black wolf, with black smoke trickling off of them. Hellhounds—they are a pack of hellhounds. They all rip the witches apart quickly, and the witches start to retreat.

When he got to where I was, he held out the tool for me to see clearly "Please." I continued struggling against the bindings desperately. When he reached out to grab my arm, I suddenly froze, closing my eyes and turning my face away. "You Thompsons have heartlessly killed so many of our kind. You killed even those who never killed a human for centuries. You've tortured us and hunted us like Prey." Venom dripped from his voice. The darkness in his eyes intensified as he trailed the knife over my skin teasingly. I couldn't stop trembling in utter terror.

Six wolves tear toward us through the trees, jaws slack and teeth gleaming in the morning sunlight. But they’re not just wolves. Hellhounds. All six of them. Their bodies are mangled and furless, their eyes shining with the powers of the witches who command them. Sydney shifts and races forward, putting himself between the hellhounds and Kenna.

They snarl, bark, and snap their jaws, feeling the icy bite of death as they circle the group. “What the fuck are they?” Brody asks and I try not to laugh. “Hellhounds.” I say when they drop to their knees. A loud growl causes the ones that are circling to whine and submit. I smile as I look up as she steps forward. She snaps her jaws at her pups, teeth barred, lips pulled back as she gets closer to me. I look at her. Her eyes clear as she sniffs my face, and I giggle when she licks my face.

I frankly said to them. Everyone packs up their things and gathers their weapon. I summoned my hellhounds to transport us away from my fortress. My hellhounds are the only animal-like creature who can survive hell. Oslec helps me in carrying Aria at the back of the hounds. The rest of them individually hops onto their assigned hellhounds.
