He rasped as she inhaled sharply. "Give me my phone," She demanded bravely. "Why?" He asked innocently causing her to throw a quick glare his way before looking away. "Because it's mine," She muttered in a duh tone. "And you're mine," He husked and her eyes widened as she stared into his dark onyx hues. "I'm not," She deadpanned and his brow shot up in a challenge. She was scared and a nervous wreck but in no way was she backing down. "But you just said you're my mate, didn't you?" Mateo’s grin shriveled and died on his face. “What,” Mateo asked, defensively. “This is Riley? You didn’t tell me your beta is a girl.” Mateo eyed her appreciatively. “Woman,” Kadeem corrected automatically, but he was hardly paying attention anymore. The amount of anxiety coming off his beta was overwhelming him. Riley narrowed her eyes at Mateo. “Who the fuck are you,” she asked, scowling. I narrowed my eyes, wondering who the hell could this be. "Kingston," I answered on picking the call. "Xenois! Thank God you're finally taking calls."
