The night was cold and moonless and an icy wind blew through the island. Riven stood in the corridor of Henrietta's house, looking towards the distance. His eyes were hard and emotionless and his shoulders looked rigid. With his arms crossed, he exuded a dominant aura and authority. The cold wind ruffled his hair and brought the scent of the witch as she stepped outside. Riven didn't bother to turn around to know she was standing behind him. "How is she?",he asked. Henrietta sighed. "She's fine now. I gave her some soothing potion to calm her nerves and make her relax"

He was willing to destroy everything. Even the ones who had stood beside him—who had trusted him. He would have sacrificed them all just to ensure his victory. Riven let out a soft, almost mocking sigh, before crouching down in front of him. She smirked as she leaned closer, her piercing eyes locking onto his. “How?” she repeated his question, feigning thoughtfulness. Then, her expression hardened. “Well,” she said slowly, her irises beginning to change color. A deep, unnatural swirl of violet and gold bled into her pupils, glowing with an eerie light.

Just slightly. “You were expecting me?” she asked. Riven rose fully to his feet, the air around him seeming to tense with the motion. Every step he took carried weight, a silent assertion of command. His eyes never left her, his head tilted slightly as though weighing whether she truly was who she claimed to be. “You claim you are no ordinary witch,” he said, voice calm but edged with steel. “So tell me… what kind of witch are you?” Seryna did not answer. She lifted her hand. And snapped her fingers.

he said, staring at Mae with devastation written across his face. Riven crashed through the opposite hatch a heartbeat later. His wings burst open before he could control them, larger than Mae remembered seeing them, silver and black and edged in stormlight that cracked against the ceiling. He stumbled, caught himself, then looked at her as if he had found and lost her in the same second. The humor that belonged on his face was gone. “You don’t remember us,” he said.

And when I stared at the mirror, I was proud of she who stared right back at me - Rhea Dawson. A tear escaped my eyes and I dabbed my cheek gently with a napkin and then a powder brush. It was a happy tear, reminding me of all the bumps and hurdles we had overcome in the previous years. I closed my eyes and let myself sink into my memories, reminiscing on everything we've been through in the past eight years.
