As Kisa navigated a lonely stretch of road, a horrifying sight came into view: a car, twisted and overturned from a violent crash. Shattered glass littered the ground while thick, white smoke billowed ominously from the wreckage. Blood and rainwater pooled on the pavement in a chilling, gruesome display. Heart pounding, Kisa recognized the blood-soaked figure huddled next to the car, clutching his head in agony—it was Gilbert. With adrenaline fueling her every step, she sprinted to his side and embraced him.

A creek bed with cobbles turned sideways channeled water from the gutter, enhancing the look of rushing water. I walked and followed the smoothened cobblestone pathway, probably leading me to the seashore because the footpath had ended, and its edge was almost covered by white powder-like sand. I sat, resting my chin on the knees and scooping the fine sand, and letting some grains escape from my hand. The remaining sand on my palm reminded me of myself, trying to stay on to things I shouldn’t. “Tara!” I heard Blake’s voice the first time. It was undeniable that my heart leaped with joy hearing his voice, but it also felt the unbearable pain of seeing him.

While traveling, I came across news about Sebastian. The news said that Sebastian had been severely injured in a business war with the Nolan family. In their retaliation, they had caused an accident that left him in a vegetative state. I looked at the news, feeling no emotion in my heart.

The driver who just diverted into the lonely way to the city stopped after seeing a red car blocking the road. “ what’s wrong?” Adele asked for the driver to open the car door. “ I don’t know madam, let me check,” he said for Adele to look at him as he approached the car, three armed men came out from their hidden place. As the driver wanted to rush back to the car, the sound of gun was heard and he fell dead on the ground making Adele immediately close the kid's face and open her eyes wide.

As I reached home, I simply took the bag I readied for cases like this as well as the savings that I shall use for living, changed my clothes then took off. I took a quick look at the maze-like streets in front of me and sighed with relief. “This village is truly designed to house people who have a lot of hiding to do ha?” I took the narrow street in the corner of a newspaper shop. This street is often used for the very purpose of my soon-to-be journey. I walked straight until I reached a dead end, or rather, what is supposed to be the dead end – a location I heard from the village kids. I searched the wall trying to look for some small embossed brick.

I couldn't help but shiver every time I remembered back to what those voices had said. Hayden was dangerous. In every way. And why wouldn't he be? I wasn't supposed to die that night. This wasn't supposed to happen. That accident happened because he came in the way! Lord of the Dead. That's what the voices called him. So, I tried dwelling in those thicks, old books, trying to find something useful. Except, the only language they were in, wasn't English. And the words written on those rough papers made no sense to me.

Beatrice then nodded, "I second your decisions, how about you Ruby?" Thrown away by her sudden question, I pointed at myself, "Oh, me? Fuck making choices but, I also think it have to definitely be the second path." I answered confidently, though a small seed of doubt remained. In anyways, for now, the second path would have to be enough, the safest of the dangerous choices before us, the middle road that led somewhere between salvation and damnation. With my words, we faced the second path, the middle road stretching into the shadows. With a deep breath, we stepped forward together, into the unknown horrors that surely awaited us down that ominous path.
