“Gather ye rosebuds while ye may,” Cali said to Leesa. “Carpe diem,” added Caitlin. “Life is short,” chimed in Stacie. Leesa sat on her bed, her back propped comfortably against two pillows, while her friends took turns trying to persuade her to wear something sexy and sleazy to tomorrow night's big Halloween bash. That she had even agreed to go to what was billed as the biggest and wildest party of the year was a big enough step for her. No way was she going to wear some slinky costume that would invite way more attention than she wanted or needed. Besides, there was only one guy whose attention she craved, and she already had Rave's full interest.

Robert said snidely to Becky and Della, who looked at each other in total disbelief. The queen had simply had enough of Robert. She stepped forward and told the girls to get back and to hold on to each other as tightly as they could. Then the queen began to sway and chant as her two sisters appeared again, and they all chanted and swayed together. It wasn't long before Robert started to writhe and flail on the floor. His body then began to levitate into the air and he began to change. The air filled with the familiar stench of the sprite people, and in a flash of light and a burst of energy, Robert became a big, stinking sprite.
