I had almost run out of his study room when I remembered the main purpose of my untimely 'visit'. The team heard stories of what happened between Blue Thunder and Lord Meozo and they tried to question her about it but she dodged their questions by giving them vague answers. She didn't want to ignore her new teammates and the team officials, but she couldn't think about it without thinking about her cousin and the event was still under investigation. She was convinced Lord Meozo was behind Nadilla’s death and thinking about it brought forward painful memories

Chapter 10: Trust the Flame Raven gripped the reins tighter as the storm above began to roll in. Thunder growled in the distance like a warning. Shadow’s presence curled around her soul—steady, watchful—while Nightfire hummed just beneath her skin, flaring softly with each heartbeat. She had sensed danger for hours now, but it had stayed just out of reach. Thorne rode beside her, silent but alert. She glanced at him. His jaw was tight, his eyes scanning the treeline like he was waiting for something to leap out.

“They’re here.” And they were. In the black behind my eyes, the fate-threads ignited. Kai’s winter-pine line burned steady and furious. Ryder’s gold-and-gunpowder thread sparked wildly. Jax’s amber… Jax’s flickered again—dimmer this time, stuttering like a candle in wind. Terror sliced through the haze of arousal. Thorne felt the shift in me. His fingers stilled. “What’s wrong, little Queen? Losing one already?”

I stood still under the freezing stream, eyes closed, focusing only on the sting of the cold and the sound of water against tile. When I stepped out, I felt sharper. No more drifting. No more waiting. It was time to act. A heavy sigh escaped me as the picture of all I'd been through weighed heavily in my mind. I dried off briskly, pulling on my silk robe—black, embroidered with silver thread. A small armor. I made my way to the table near the window and lit the single candle that sat there. Rain had begun again, a soft tapping against the glass. Good. Let the weather mourn. I had some planning to do.
