He sure had his work cut out for him. Any one being a Rogue or a renegade was despised in the werewolf community. There was not much difference between the two terms. The High council branded all those who do not adhere to the laws of the werewolf community as Rogues. It included wolves who got kicked out from their packs or those who decided to leave them on their accords. I take a break from my work and hunt down and kill rogues that have gone insane. Unlike most werewolves, I don’t kill all rogues, just the ones that are insane. That is why I said that the werewolf treatment of rogues is a problem. Often, wolves who have gone rogue to escape a bad situation and are seeking shelter, are killed or imprisoned simply because they are rogues. Ugh. This annoys me so much. Innocent people are killed because of herd mentality. Why can’t the pack wolves see that some rogues are not bad?

The rogue answered. “Look at me.” I ordered. “What do you want with her?” I added. “To protect.” The rogue stated as his gaze met mine. I admit, that threw me. Analyzing him, I tried to make sense of what he was saying. He seemed less like the scared kid I had met prior and more bold. Even his eyes were more human than wolf, but I could still see the wolf peeking through. “Explain.” I pressed. “I am drawn to her, she is my leader. I need to protect her.” The rouge replied, his voice sounding more human than animalistic.

Luke didn’t stop looking at each of them so intensely as he continued, “The rogue attack is drawing closer and closer to our boundaries.” “And we are prepared,” one of the elders replied. Luke shook his head, frowning a bit, “Are you sure about this? How ready?” he replied. She raised a claw to finish it off when another rogue jumped at her, knocking her off the wolf. Nora whimpered, falling to a side, leaving her ribs bruised and bleeding. Of course, rogues travelled in twos. The new rogue crouched beside the fallen rogue, sniffing it and checking if it was still alive. Nora saw her blood on a couple of fallen leaves and growled, charging at the newcomer. She gave it no breathing space as she took it down, swiping at its neck with renewed energy and anger. When it tried to howl for help, she ripped out its vocal cord and the rogue went still. Returning to the initial one, it was barely alive and struggling to get away.

Her instincts screamed, feet backing away slowly, breath catching in her throat. One lunged. She screamed—and then suddenly— A blur of black fur crashed into the attacker mid-air. A massive black wolf with silver eyes, twice the size of the others, snarled with a guttural sound that shook the air. From the distance, golden eyes watched from the rooftop. The rogue Alpha. His fists were clenched. His chest rose and fell in frustration. He was going to save her. But he was too late. That bastard beat him to it.
