"What if she has forgotten who she is?" Ayel closed his eyes for a moment. "Then we will remind her. We are her children..." The following silence was profound. They concentrated again. The three joined hands in the center of the circle, and the energy began to pulse once more. The floor around them trembled slightly. The air bent in on itself. And, for a brief moment, the impossible happened. In the center of the circle, a thin light, an almost invisible tear, opened. A fissure. "Concentrate!" Ayel shouted, the veins in his neck bulging. "Hold the focus, before it closes!"

The boy screamed as his foot met the edge of the circle, and was repelled by a force so strong he was thrown back ten feet, crashing into the wall with a grunt. Gasps echoed around us. Instructors rushed forward. But all I could do was stare as the magic circle around me pulsed brighter and brighter, a dome forming from its core, sheer energy shielding me like a living thing.

"So, can you decode it?" "Circulo Del Diablo," Siobhan responded almost immediately. "A Spanish phrase translated to English as 'The Devil's Circle'." Just as she was about to explain how she decoded it to arrive at Circulo Del Diablo, my phone buzzed and a message notification from Lisa popped up. It read; 'We have a meeting tomorrow. She slowly made it into a perfect circle and the glow slowly turned green as the material solidified with a design in the middle that looked like two open squares that spiraled in on themselves three times yet they never touched. Placing a hand on top of the solid circle she lifted her hand slowly upwards and the circle split into two identical circles. Waiting for the second one to finish solidifying she help her other hand out to the group of Males. Offering the circle to the Baffled group when one from the back steps forward and gently picks it up.

My rage tore free of all control. “Get away from him!” I screamed, my voice not entirely my own. Morwein’s chant faltered. Damon turned, eyes wide with shock, but not fear. His mouth curved into that infuriating, empty smile. Elyndra surged out of me in a wave so violent that it made the walls tremble. The ritual circle flared crimson, and then cracked. The sigils burned like dying stars. “NO!” Morwein shrieked, spinning toward me, her hands slicing the air as she tried to repair the circle. But it was too late.

“The Circle is attacking!” “They’re trying to take Elena!” Daniel’s eyes widened. “They need her…” Mercer looked at the final scanner. “Without Elena…” “…the chamber will never open.” Marco’s radio crackled with gunfire. “Damien!” “They’ve broken through the south perimeter!” Above the vault, explosions shook the mansion. Dust drifted from the ceiling. Daniel looked at the final biometric scanner. “We have to get to Elena.” Mercer nodded urgently. “If the Circle gets to her first…”

It hums beneath my palms, not demanding obedience, but waiting. Waiting for direction. The Moon’s glow tightens again, piercing my eyes like focused attention. Not distant. Not indifferent. Aware.
