Rooftop Night - City View The elevator doors slid open with a soft chime, and Geoff stepped out first, tugging Keenan along by the wrist. “Come on, you’ll like this,” he said, pushing open the heavy door that led to the rooftop. A rush of cool night air spilled over them, carrying the faint hum of the city below.

It would soon be shutting down for the night, but the small nondescript building opposite it had a rooftop. I turned and jumped up. I had to jump twice mid-air, using the wall of the building as a foothold before I finally ended up on the rooftop. Six warriors clad held to toe in body suits and wearing heavy biker helmets with the visor down stood guard. A lone man in a similar bodysuit but this one pristine white, sat on a high back chair at the edge of the rooftop.

"Activate the Scorched-Earth plan." The voice on the other end, which belonged to his most loyal subordinate, sounded hesitant. "M-Mr. Freeman, the signal is unstable–" The call was disconnected. He immediately called the trusted aide he had planted inside the board, but a secretary's cold voice came through. "Sorry, he is currently in a meeting with Steve." The call was disconnected yet again. Finally, he called the bank manager in Ravendale, but all he heard was an emotionless robotic voice. "Your security authorization has been revoked."

Jefferson patted his chest and promised, "Just tell me where you want to go and I'll go with you." Thus, Jefferson accompanied Hodge and they secretly snuck onto the rooftop. The door to the rooftop was usually locked, and no one was allowed to go there. Hodge wasn't sure what Jefferson did but somehow he got the keys. At this moment, they were on the rooftop staring at the beautiful night sky. Hodge took out a cigarette and lit it. He took a drag and then spat out a smoke ring. One puff wasn't enough, hence he took another drag with his trembling hand.

"Why Alpha Jaxon seeking for me again now? He could spare a week!" Veronica exited the elevator, ascended another story, and pulled open the roof door. The bright light dazzled her as soon as the door opened. The rooftop is the size of a square and is now lighted by an uninterrupted stream of powerful lights, making the night sky as dazzling as sunlight. Four helicopters were positioned in the middle of the light from a distance. So pompous and showy. She figured out where the noise was coming from. Several rows of beta bodyguards stood beside the helicopter, all standing upright and watchful. Uriel dressed gently, looked at her kindly, and smiled, "Luna."

The city lights glimmered like distant stars, but for us, they offered no comfort—only the harsh reminder of hunters closing in from every direction. I’ll not get caught, I promised myself. When I found the stairs that lead to the rooftop, it was thankfully not locked. My legs shook, and tears welled up in my eyes again. Since the door was unlocked, it meant there was at least one warrior on duty stationed at the rooftop to oversee the environs incase of an intruder. I pressed myself into the shadows and closed my eyes, saying a silent prayer to the moon goddess, praying not to be caught and asking her to accept my unclean soul.
