“That ring is all I need.” He hesitated only a second before nodding to the forensic specialist. They opened the lid the rest of the way and gently lifted my mother’s left hand. Even after all these years, her fingers still held a trace of grace—slender, delicate, almost as if she were about to move. But what caught every eye around the grave wasn’t the hand. It was the ring. A rose. Not just etched into metal, but sculpted—petal by petal, gemstone by gemstone. Blood-red ruby at the center, sapphire petals around it, touches of emerald and diamond at the tips like dew. It should have been breathtaking.
