The noise drew the stranger's attention to me and they turned around. My breath caught in my throat at that instant and I was frozen. Never before had I seen such a sight to behold. The wind blew through the clearing making her kohl-black, curly hair flow gently with the breeze. Her chestnut skin-which was clear apart from a couple drops of blood-seemed incandescent against the dark backdrop of the surrounding trees. Blood poured over the ground as she tossed the two halves to the sides. The other rouges growled and crossed the lake to attack her. Rose felt a sharp pain in her abdomen and a gush of fluid hit the ground and run down her leg.
