He let out an incredulous laugh that made me clench my jaw as I pushed down my embarrassment. "This is Roxanne, she came from Thaddeus' pack. You can formally meet her some other time," I told him through gritted teeth. He let out another breathy chuckle, shaking his head. "My goddess Xavier, what the hell is going through your head? Why would you bring her out here like this?"

A bead of sweat slides down her cheek and down to her chin; she's pretty nervous. I opened my mouth, hesitant, but before I could speak up, she stepped in front of me. “I've discovered my mate, and it's Remy," she announced, unwavering. Must have bit back the fear at the last minute. The silence fell, as if our words had vanished into the walls. The alpha's expression darkened, his aura now polluted with anger.
