Alexandro’s stomach twisted. He watched as Karl said something that made her glance down shyly, her fingers brushing her sleeve. She looked flustered, almost nervous. And for a second, Alexandro saw something that made his fists clench—she was glowing. Soft and unsure, but she was glowing. And it wasn’t for him. He strained his ears to hear their conversation, but he could only hear Karl's slight voice. Ravik growled low in his chest. Do something, the wolf said. That’s your mate. She’s standing there with another man while you sulk like a broken thing.

She couldn't leave the poor girl all alone. “Speak.” I urged the lady. “How did Roxanne get that scar on her back?” “From Alpha Vanthorn, your Majesty.” She said, while glaring daggers at Vanthorn. “His son had tried to force himself on her, but when Roxanne disagreed, she was punished and beaten mercilessly. He told her that she wouldn't have gotten this scar if she had just let his son do his business.” She added the last part with a sharp exhale.
