It releases me with a yelp. I stumble backward, clutching my bleeding arm. The rogues regroup, getting ready for another attack. I'm losing. I know I'm losing. My vision is starting to blur from pain and blood loss. My partial shift is slipping because I can't concentrate. The rogues sense weakness. They move in for the kill. I brace myself, claws out, ready to go down fighting. Then a blur of movement crashes into the largest rogue from the side. Ryder. He's fully shifted, a massive dark wolf with amber eyes. He's easily twice the size of the rogues.

With a swift snap of my fingers, a luxurious fur-lined cloak appeared, and I carefully wrapped it around her shoulders, fastening it at the neckline. Roxy's crazy curls spilled out from beneath the cloak as she smiled her thanks. In that moment, she looked breathtakingly beautiful, like a dark ice princess risen from the frozen depths. Her beauty was mesmerizing, and I felt my heart swell with pride. The shy Cryomancer led us to the dining hall, where River awaited. As soon as his eyes landed on Roxy, his expression faltered, and a flicker of surprise crossed his face.

I had to swallow a growl. He caught me red-handed. “Now, Ryker, don’t be upset. Dira is a beautiful young lady and a beast in her training and skills. She got it from her dad,” Franco says. I see him sight like he lost someone dear. “Oh, my!! Dira is your mate!!” Rosa finally exclaims. “Oh my god, that is wonderful,” she says, clapping happily. “Honey, it took you a minute there,” Franco says, and she swats him on his shoulder.

Ryker took up command. After that, we left the room, except for Carter. We helped Leo get set up, while Ryan checked out the containment area. He said they would work for a few rogues, so we could use them to continue researching a cure. The rest of us headed upstairs, so Sara and the others could take stock of everything we had to work with. Ryker grabbed my hand to lead me outside. I didn’t question what he was doing until after we were alone. “What is wrong?” I asked him, my brows pulled together in confusion.

"I've never wanted anything for you but your happiness. Please grant me this." His head drops and Derrick places his arms around my brother. My goodbyes are quick after that. Now I'm fully dressed and flying on a crazy female dragon with a death wish. She's breaking all the rules of the realm with no care that the U.S. military might shoot us down. "Hold on," she yells into my head. A fighter plane comes out of nowhere as Roxy, as she asked me to call her, rolls to her side and takes us between two tall buildings. "We're doing this all the way to Arizona?" I question softly into her mind because her yelling has given me a headache.

The packs howled again, the sound swelling into something primal, courage in its rawest shape. Lisa’s smile twisted. She lifted her hand. The wind coiled like a serpent ready to strike. I braced myself, and then a snarl split the right flank. Every head turned. A lone figure moved through the ranks of rogues, slow, calm, as if the battlefield belonged to him. For a heartbeat, every wolf around me tensed, ready to launch. I stepped forward, teeth bared. “LORENZO.” I snapped. “You fucking dare show yourself in our lands? “

We crossed a courtyard dusted with fresh snow, the ground packed down by the heavy boots of warriors drilling in formation. And there— Near the center— I saw him. Alexandro. He was dressed in simple black armor, moving through the ranks of soldiers like a dark storm. He barked orders, demonstrating techniques with swift, brutal efficiency. I watched, transfixed, as he sparred with three wolves at once, his movements a blur of deadly grace. He moved like a creature of pure instinct, every step calculated, every strike purposeful. His soldiers fought hard to match him, but none could best him.

The Rogue crumpled, its form shifting erratically as it breathed its last. Luna Light's eyes darted around, tracking the chaos. She spotted a young pack member, barely out of his teenage years, being overpowered by two Rogues. Without a second thought, she grabbed a crossbow from a fallen warrior and aimed. She fired, the arrow striking one of the Rogues in the side. It let out a guttural scream and turned on her, but she was ready. She reloaded and fired again, this time hitting the Rogue squarely in the chest. It fell, writhing in pain, and she rushed forward, pulling the young pack member to his feet.

She hissed at me as she went to open the door for our first pack Alpha. “Alpha Theodore Bronx, Alpha of the green woods pack, I brought my sons, Thomas and Timothy as one of my boys will be the next Alpha I hope you don’t mind Luna Riverwood.” A man’s voice said. I couldn’t see him from my seat but looking to Charlotte this was the reason she was here tonight. “Welcome Alpha, come on in. We are having everyone come to the sitting room to meet her so please follow me.” I heard the Luna’s voice come down the short hallway. I stood not wanting to but trying to make this go as well as it could. A tall man with black hair followed the Luna into the sitting room, I of course recognized the boys

I would never want to be the reason anyone else goes through the same thing. So I've been thinking of horse betting. Horses of great speed can cost us millions to start off but they can also make us billions. I'll take the risk but I'm gonna need a backup plan. I was really missing Roxy.
