They wound down another hallway and out through a pair of glass doors into the palace gardens. The evening air was cool against Pearl's face. Lanterns lined the stone paths, their light catching on the surface of a quiet lake in the distance, white roses climbing over marble arches, and jasmine drifting through the air with every breeze.
