In one hand, he carried a small leather travel case, and a gold ring flashed on his finger as he adjusted his coat.
The wind pushed at his coat, but he walked down the stairs like the air itself had no power over him. He smiled, as he scanned the waiting men below.
When his shoes touched the ground, Macholo and the others stepped forward. They gave him the kind of nod that wasn’t common; it was the kind of greeting only men who understood respect gave. Macholo extended his hand, and Ruger took it.
“Welcome back to the ground, General,” Macholo said with a half-smile.
