Outside the bunker, the world turned into a nightmare of sound. Nevan stood on the gantry above the launch pad. The first shard slammed into the concrete fifty meters away, unfurling into a spindly, multi-limbed creature made of shifting geometry. It didn't have a face; it had a cluster of sensors that pulsed with a golden light. Nevan didn't wait. He lunged.

“You have a plan.” I nodded, already stepping toward the nearest set of glyphs etched into the stone walls. “Harper infused this entire structure with magic—she wove her power into it.
