Luna Ariel's POV After blinking several times, I am finally able to open my eyes fully. I look ahead, all I see is a blank white wall and in the background I hear the faint beeping of machines. Gradually the memories began to come back to me. My flight from Midnight Moon while Gorgio, my mate, waited for me at the border. The kidnapping of Zane just as I was about to shift, the choke around my neck and the needle in my arm. Three days later, I regained consciousness in a bunker, where I met Fiona, who helped me escape, but to the wrong side of pack land. We were supposed to go to the western border but ended up on the highway to Human Town.

MALIA’S POV The words came out colder than I intended. “They have a new Luna now,” I continued bitterly. “Go ask her to save your precious pack.” A strange look crossed Flora’s face. “You have been Luna long before she was,” Flora said softly. “You are still the first Luna of this pack. A Luna has to be tolerant. You can’t let another woman steal your place and your husband.” I couldn’t help the dark chuckle that escaped me.

"I cannot believe that two of my most dimwitted soldiers captured the Highridge Pack's Luna!" It was an unfamiliar voice. I was relieved that it was not Gretta, though. I chastised myself for that awful thought. Of course, Gretta won’t hurt me. She would never put her niece and me in danger. I had to remind myself that I was still in huge danger, though. Knowing they could kill me anytime they wanted. As the only candidate to become the Highridge Pack’s Luna, killing me means it will weaken Caden. And that will give them a huge opportunity to attack my mate and his territory.
