I met her eyes, trying to find words, but she’d already turned toward the team.
“Alright, everyone,” she said, raising her voice just enough. “Pack it up. We’re going out. Drinks are on me.”
For a second, no one moved. Then the silence broke—grins, cheers, laughter. The tension melted.
Marcowhistled. “You’re a lifesaver, Ruby.”
She smiled. “Someone has to make sure this win actually feels like one.”
As the team started getting ready, I leaned back against the wall, watching her take control like she’d been born to do it. This side of Ruby that could bring order out of chaos, made my heart skip a beat.
