Would Ryder accept me and Haven and the boys into his pack? Ryder, Rob, their friends and I have settled into a routine. "But I have to ask, which pack are you from?"

I’m sitting in my parents’ home, gathered around the large dining room table with Mom, Dad, and Ethan. Ryder is with Gael and Hakeem, trying to figure out who’s best to take him north to Erick’s territory. Axel—Bella, Jamal, and Gregory’s youngest son—is with them, since he’s Ryder’s best friend. He’s been helping keep Ryder calm and distracted so he’s less likely to shift. It’s actually been a big help.

There was absolutely no logical benefit for him to grant my request.

Jayden fired back. "It would interest you to know that Ryder invited me here so we could go on a road trip." Evena replied tauntingly. "Is this true? You two are going on a road trip?"
