Too many lives were still at stake. Ryker wiped his hand across his face, his expression twisted with hatred. “I don’t know why I ever trusted you Lycans. All of you are the same — liars and backstabbers.” His laughter turned wild and broken. “But I don’t care anymore. If I perish… we all perish together.” He raised the remote high into the air, his thumb hovering over the button. Suddenly Bria moved, a sudden surge of strength pushed through her fear. She lunged forward and slammed into Ryker with all her force, knocking him off balance. The remote slipped from his hand and clattered onto the floor.

He reached out and touched my head lightly to check the injury, and I flinched a bit but didn’t pull away. “I’ll get you out,” he said. “Soon. I promise.” I nodded slowly but I needed answers. “Why is Ryker back,” I asked, “what does he want.” He let out a breath and his jaw tightened. “I don’t know everything, but I know enough. Ryker and my father were brothers, and when my father became king, Ryker couldn’t accept it. He expected the crown. When he didn’t get it, he tried to kill my father. He failed, then disappeared. No one knew if he was alive or dead.”

"You made yourself a rogue!" Ryker had indeed lied to me. He told me he was framed by Magnus and that made him a rogue, but the truth was that in his quest to be Alpha, he became a rogue. That also meant that Thorne was telling the truth—Ryker had indeed tried to kill him. "It's time for you to meet your fellow rogues in the afterlife," the warrior continued, raising his sword to behead Ryker, but before he could, the warriors were attacked at the speed of light.

Kiran said seriously. “Go where? Where is he?” Malachi almost yelled at him. “His name’s Blake Cannon now, he was in Chicago but now he lives on a farm in Epworth, Iowa,” Kiran said and his hands shook with either anger or excitement. “What did Death show you?” “There are people after him. We were in his house, there were guns shooting everywhere and he gets hit, maybe five or six times but he’s still fighting back but there’s too many of them, he’s going to die, Dad. I saw him die,” Kiran said, emotion swimming in his blue eyes.

“Take him back to Frostvale, and see that he lives.” Shock flashed across their eyes, but they didn’t hesitate. Two of the strongest immediately caught Grimhold, cradling him like he was made of glass. The rest surged to form a shield with their weapons raised even though they didn’t understand the situation. That was when Ryker appeared. He slipped out from the shadows, his half-Lycan body towering, black fire spilling from his claws. His grin gleamed like a blade. “Not a single one of you leaves here alive.”

But it seems no one knew except Peter. Ryder had been hiding a secret, a secret so deep that it had allowed Ryker to penetrate our lives undetected. Peter continued, his voice shaded with a mixture of sorrow and frustration. "Ryder had a twin brother, Charia. Ryker was a wild wolf, locked away by Ryder for many years because he was incredibly dangerous. Ryder hoped to find a way to heal him, to fix his shattered soul. He pulls away, one hand still holds Blake's neck and the other on his bicep. Blake stairs at him with a blank and confused gaze. None of it making sense to him. "Why do you keep calling me Alarick!?
