Soon she felt a firm material right above her ankle. She snapped open her eyes and saw him clasping that dagger sheath at her crus. She didn't know what he was trying to do but better knew than defying him. After clasping the sheath securely Ryker tucked the dagger in it. The dagger has in his name with his date of birth carved on it as: Ryker Verlice 28.09.1994

“Queen... he’s... ” Ryker’s voice croaked behind them: “He’s mine.” They turned as Ryker rose unsteadily, leaning on Urhan’s shoulder. His chest was heavily bandaged; his face drawn with exhaustion. Yet his eyes, the golden heart of his gaze, shone with triumph. Nyra stared, mouth agape. “Ryker?” Ryker smiled, a single tear slipping down. “You nearly forgot.” He staggered forward, each step a triumph of will. “Lovers don’t kill each other.”

You dare to hurt that unwanted Luna—the stray?" he roared. The hunters moved backward as Drake suddenly shifted into a wild werewolf. His eyes turned red. "Unwanted, Luna? Stray?" The hunter scoffed as his men laughed soundly. "She's not unwanted. She's a Luna who will carry your heir, but before that, I will kill you first, and then, she'll follow you."

There’s no making it ‘right.’’

It was—and I might be mistaken—pity? “So... who's this room for?” Still, I managed to ask whilst ignoring how this sophisticated man had his brows slack with fatigue. Or his shoulders lax yet tense. I understood it. Mr. Ryker, the father of a child who's been called The Grim Reaper, was tired. But why does he look so pitiful? “Riven liked it,” even his tone was wistful. Regardless of it, hearing that name made something tighten in my chest. But I stayed still, listening.

Barbara's grandfather's gaze shifted out of the car window beside him, his hand still caressing the top of Linda's head which was now resting on his shoulder. Aryadi is a wolf-shifter from the Black Wolf tribe as well, but he has rarely visited a base like that bunker since his dispute with Elder Magen long ago. Although Elder Magen seemed to have put their problems aside after the young wolf-shifter found Aryadi's body lying unconscious near the headquarters and took care of him.

The one who first found me and alerted the others. Seeing him for the second time, I realized how muscular and tall he was. He was not as tall as Derek but he was more built, and the multiple scars on his face showed how tough his life must have been as a forbidden wolf. "You're awake," Derek said, walking to the bed. I kept my eyes on him but didn't offer a reply. "I was so worried." I trailed my gaze from him to the rogue, and he followed it. "Oh, this is Ryker, leader of the rogue pack. He's the owner of this place we're staying at."

Sheriff Black lay at my feet, his body covered in blood. With a heavy heart, I covered my mouth to muffle the scream that threatened to escape as I once again found myself on the cold ground. My hands shook as I crawled toward his lifeless body, desperately trying to wake him with a gentle shake. But as I searched for a pulse, my heart sank with the realization that he was truly gone. His eyes remained open, as though he was caught off guard, yet they stared into nothingness. With tears streaming down my face, I tenderly closed them and clung to his still form, allowing myself to cry softly.
