On Valentine’s Day, Ethan Scott had a last-minute social engagement and left me home alone. Late at night, I received a message from him, telling me to meet him at a bar. Thinking he had finally remembered me, I rushed out the door, eager to see him. But when I came to the door of the private lounge, the scene before me froze me in place. Taylor Winston straddled Ethan’s lap, her silk camisole slipping from her shoulders, the straps barely clinging to her elbows.

When he got to the important part, he sang, “Happy birthday, dear Rayan, happy birthday to you!” They shared a kiss, and simply enjoyed each other’s presence a few moments as Scott finished waking up, before they had to get up and get dressed for breakfast. They were almost ready to head out the door, when Scott made Rayan wait a moment.

"The world sees a fiancée. I see a debt that I’m never going to let you finish paying." He took my hand, his fingers interlacing with mine so tightly it almost hurt, and led me back into the den of sharks. I walked beside him, the cold ruby on my finger catching the light, knowing that the "Dirty Valentine" was no longer just a gala title. It was the life I was now trapped in.

He also said I needed to stay in a good mood, be careful with my diet and medication, and take good care of myself. Next to the medical report were two plane tickets for a seven-day trip to Isvalia. I initially planned to tell her on Valentine's Day, so I could relax with her before the surgery. Now, that was no longer needed. Nancy rushed back with the first-aid kit and rifled through it a few times before stopping. "Where's the ointment? Did you…" She cut herself off halfway through. "Good morning, Selena. I’ll take the usual—Double Espresso no sugar, and Caramel Latte for my sis." Selena fumbles slightly as she reaches for a cup, her cheeks flushing with a warmth that has nothing to do with the morning rush. "Valentine, is it?... I, uh, I never got to thank you properly for saving me from my assailant the other day. I’ve been meaning to—" Valentine leans closer, his smile disarming. "Selena, is it…” he chuckles, playing same card as her about acting uncertain of their names. “It was my pleasure. I’m just glad I was there when you needed me."

In a quaint New York café, Valerie and Maya reunited after six long years apart. The air was charged with a mix of nostalgia, excitement, and the unspoken weight of time that had passed. Maya, now adorned with an engagement ring, couldn't wait to share the news of her upcoming marriage.
