Sage turned to him with a cold look that could have frozen the river we saved her from. He's yelling obscenities and throwing rocks as I make a turn and round the corner. Sage has completely covered her face with her hands as if she's afraid to look back up. "He saw me." She finally says with a groan after a few moments and wipes at her cheeks. She's crying and I feel a stab of pain in my chest at the sight of her. I turn into a parking lot of the natural hiking trails and park as quickly as possible. I hop out of the driver side and have her door open before she can even undo her seatbelt.

I found out he lived in the Sage Mountain pack, but had previously belonged to another pack. He had worked at a doctor there, but had done experiments on patients in secret. When the Alpha found out he tried to punish Doctor Parker, but by then Parker had already left. He had no family or mate, Parker’s mate had rejected him after noticing some odd behavior.

Sage pov My mind is seriously fucked up. I keep thinking about the strange man I encountered. No one's ever seen me when I’m in my assassin mode.
