A knock on the door, soft, respectful.
Sakura pulled back. A second knock, then the screen slid open a few inches.
Dante stood there, sleeves rolled to his elbows, hair slightly mussed from running his hands through it during whatever business talk had happened downstairs.
Sakura rose immediately, bowed to him with perfect grace. “Good night, Alessia. Good night, Dante-san.” She slipped past him with a small smile.
Dante stepped inside, sliding the door closed behind him. He looked at me, really looked, taking in the tray, the half-drunk tea, the way my eyes were still a little bright from tears I hadn’t quite shed.
