Same Time Next Summer Novels & Stories

The summer when she was twelve years old, this truth hit Valeria with force: she was just a flat skinny girl, and Daniel, though always kind and willing to play videogames with her or ride their bikes around the neighborhood, was moving on to different interests. And maybe she wasn’t able to follow him no matter how hard she tried.

Hazel sounded a bit annoyed. "He's not showing up and God knows when he's going to show up, but I have plans with Lee, he's busy with rehearsals and practice to prepare for his camp ... we don't have time to waste and ..." Hazel let out a frustrated breath, "He's leaving in July, I wish he could stay until after summer is over ... what am I going to do in the summer without him?" Hazel's expression turned sad.

She had to keep it together. "For now." Asher turned her to face him once more so he could look into her eyes. "But what about the next time? What about the time after that?" "I can handle it." Summer tried even though her voice was anything but confident. A bark of laughter escaped Asher. "You can't be serious. What if they end up killing you?" It was Summer's turn to laugh. "Wouldn't that be great if that did happen."

as she passed her a plate of spaghetti and meatballs. Rosa's father agreed and said that "Obviously me and your mom have no problem with it. Your whole school must be going. You'll get to see amazing stuff and explore a different but neighbouring planet, there is no harm in it". "I'll go to Sophia house tomorrow after school. She will need my help packing. Also Curiosity won't be allowed in the trip. We are supposed to get experience without our drone friends traditionally." said Rosa dramatically emphasizing on the word traditionally making air quotes.

It feels like the first week of summer all over again where we hosted this Welcome party. Now we're hosting another, and this time it's a send-off party. The kind of gathering where we say goodbyes to the friends we made over the holidays. I overhear a couple promising each other to call and text everyday, some breaking up because they can't commit to a long distance relationship. I can't even find Noah anywhere, and I'm nervous about how we'll end up after this summer. I don't want to be remembered as some random girl he hooked up with during a summer vacation in Hawaii. Yes, I want to be remembered, but not that way.

I took a couple of pictures of us, dance with Kal on my arms as I planted a kiss on his forehead. We headed home and I went inside my room to change and took a long bath. That night my parents went in my room when I was about to sleep. We talk about the deal and that I should prepare for Mr. Cold-foot, I mean Mr. Cole Ford will be coming any day this week. I sighed as they took their leave. I guess my freedom ends as summer starts. Summer, it’s like my favorite of all the seasons but at the same time I hate it.... •••

He saw me, got all upset and I said nothing, I was so upset with Brian that I wasn't going to waste my time fighting with my brazen father. Before I went to school I sent two more messages to Brian in the hope that he would answer, but to no avail, something was happening, especially with our love that in a few weeks was already changing completely. My friends told me that this was going to change, but I realize that it changed very fast. I could barely concentrate in class today and everyone was sweating because it was clear that now that he was 18 he would want to enjoy life and not get stuck with a girl who lives on the other side of the world. Who would put up with dating like that? I w

They chorused. “Julian! Julian!” A girl ran up to us. A charming smile came across Julian’s face. “Wendy, hey what’s up?” “Well, I was wondering if you wanted to hang out this summer? I’m super available.” “Ooh yikes. Yeah, I’m not sure, Wen. See, we have a super busy summer ahead of us. We’re going to stay at the mansion and we have the internship, right Joy?” “Oh yeah, super busy summer, Wendy. I fear Julian just wouldn’t have the time.”

Mandy York, my girlfriend, was practically a migratory bird that always flew away during summer. Every year, during July and August, which were the hottest months of the year, she would fly off and disappear from the face of the earth. She said that it was because her company gave her a special project abroad that required absolute secrecy from her. She was also not to contact anyone during that period of time. Even when I got into a car accident last year and lay in the ICU for two months, she never called to ask about me. Plenty of times, I had comforted myself and endured the harsh summer alone. One day, I accidentally saw the social media account of a friend of mine living abro
