ELAINA The ground shook with the sound of five hundred warriors marching. I stood at the edge of our temporary camp near the Dark Lands border, watching the horizon. The purple sky made everything look strange and wrong, but there was no mistaking what I was seeing. An army. A massive army of wolves approaching from the west, their footsteps making the earth tremble beneath my feet. Stone had come. “Everyone ready!” I shouted, and behind me, our twenty warriors scrambled into defensive positions. It wasn’t nearly enough. If Stone had changed his mind, if this was a trap, we’d be dead in minutes.

Dylam was about to lose his mind when the vans finally arrived. The warriors get out and the drivers hide the vans among the trees, covering them with bushes, making it impossible for them to be accidentally seen by anyone approaching from the south. It was a frightening sight for anyone who saw them coming. Two hundred and thirty-nine warriors gathered, led by Dylan, transmitted an aura so powerful that in the eyes of the three new rogues, the forest seemed to tremble with fear. Shane was a warrior and had trained with the Shadow Pack warriors, and he knew they would be utterly decimated by those men opposite to him.

I challenged. My stomach tightened into a hard knot. "But look around you, Captain." I gestured to the ridges surrounding the crash site. Shadows moved on the dunes. Thousands of them. The Rogue Clans emerged. The Sand-Eaters. The Iron-Jaws. The Dust-Walkers. They rose from the grit like ghosts. They held weapons of scrap and bone. They surrounded the fallen city in a ring of steel and focused hate. "You are surrounded," I said. My heart hammered a slow, heavy rhythm.

"There is a true Luna in the Storm Pack." The warriors let out a fierce cry. But I knew in my heart It wasn't over yet. Not quite yet.

Their primal chants filled the night, blending into a symphony of unyielding determination. "Remember, my warriors, we fight not only for dominance but for the future of our pack," Stanley declared, his voice ringing with conviction. "Together, we shall forge a new era of power and prosperity. Alpha Darren will fall, and the moonstone will be ours!" A thunderous cheer erupted, echoing through the night, as the warriors raised their weapons high in a display of their unwavering allegiance. Their eyes locked with Stanley's, mirroring his unwavering resolve. Stanley's gaze swept over the sea of loyal faces, the embodiment of his vision. Jade opened her eyes to the glare of the warm sun. Not only that— it was hot. Not warm and humid like the climate she was so used to, but dry and hot. Scorching. Even the bed—or whatever it was she was laying on—was hot. Jade sat up and screamed. She just found herself on top of a sand dune in the middle of a desert. How the hell did she get there?

“Four.” The lives of innocent people are on the line. “Three.” The honor of every warrior on both sides is riding on the defeat of one pack and the victory of the other. “Two.” The outcome from today's events would either clear a path to my revenge or be the driving point to my downfall. “One…” “Wait!” I paused in my words and we all turned out heads to the young warrior who stood 3 feet away from us. Sweat covered his skin and heavy pants fell from his lips. He’s one of the warriors we left behind at the pack.

The waves draw it out, scattering it, spreading the foul scent with every lapping, angry exhale coming from the sea. I stumble, turning from the water, my mouth hanging ajar as I look up at the cliffs hanging over the beach. Warriors in their human form dart back and forth, screaming for their comrades to run, while others–Teskan warriors–send arrows flying into the mist. It won’t make a difference, but the distractions the arrows cause are at least enough for the warriors scrambling off the beach to get to safety. But I’m too far away.

Tsunamis dominated, and chaos reigned. Within a large military camp, several strong warriors surrounded the perimeter of their base and summoned their powers to protect the camp. The camp was large, and it covered a great deal of land. But the warriors were many and strong. Many of these warriors were Nobles, with the few remaining being Ascenders.
