Chapter 2 - lambs to the slaughter Haytham, yawned as he wiped the fresh rogue blood from his blade, his weapon of choice had always been a sabre, or his wolf's sharp teeth, both with long curved razor-sharp edges. which made each kill more pleasurable. Looking over the limp body now laying by his feet in disgust, Haytham quickly kneeled on one knee checking the pockets of the dead male, his hands making quick work of the job at hand. He had been following his enemy for some time, stalking him through the dense woodland he now found himself in.

My gaze dropped and I saw it—Darien’s blade buried deep in him, blood spilling fast between his fingers. “No!” My scream tore through my throat. I raced forward without thinking, my chest exploding with terror. Darien yanked the sword out violently, and Thorne’s body lurched forward, his blood gushing out, soaking everything. “Stop! Please!” My voice cracked as tears blurred my sight.

He looked like he was about to say something, but he was cut off when he started coughing violently. He spat out a mouthful of blackened blood. It made for a gruesome sight against the white carpet. Felix stared at the blood in disbelief before he jerked his head up to look at me. "Why?" I set my wine glass down and looked down at him from the tip of my nose. "I'm just fulfilling my responsibility as a mother." Felix's eyes widened when he finally registered my words. The wolfsbane worked quickly, especially since Felix had been caught completely off-guard. It didn't take long before he crumpled to the ground.

I’m still having some fun and unleashing all of my repressed fucking rage on them. I stride over to my table of toys. I scan over all the different torture devices as if I were a young kid at a candy store. My eyes widen with a sense of glee as wave my hand over the various whips, blades, saws, and a large bottle of wolfsbane. Don’t want these lower life forms to heal too quickly. I pressed against her back and moved her hand to one of my favorite blades. “This is a Poshland RAM-21. The spiral blade is painful because of the spiral wound it creates and definitely makes it much bloodier. They struggle to heal, and if they do somehow manage to heal, they will be left with serious damage from the muscles and nerves,” I said softly into her ear. Brynn tilted her head, carefully running her thumb along the dull part of the blade. She grabbed it and placed it on the table beside us. Then I moved her hand to another one. There was something incredibly hot about this right here, and I was certain that she could feel my rising lust just like I was feeling hers.

Blood spattered across my face as I drove my knife into the hybrid's throat. Not a killing blow—these fuckers were resilient—but enough to buy me seconds. I twisted the silver blade, widening the wound, before kicking it back into the trees. "Six o'clock," Silas called. I spun, dropping to one knee as another hybrid lunged overhead. It landed awkwardly, and I slashed across its hamstrings before it could recover. The silver blade cut through enhanced muscle and tendon, sending it crashing to the forest floor.

She responded by conjuring chains of shadow that wrapped around his arms, pulling him to his knees. “Oliver!” I yelled. He looked toward me briefly, his eyes bright and furious. “Do it, Amy. Now!” My breath hitched. No more hesitation. I pressed the blade against my skin and dragged it slowly. The pain flared instantly, sharp and bright, but I clenched my teeth and forced the dagger through. Blood welled up quickly and coated the blade, dripping down the hilt. The pure blood burned as it touched the silver—an intense reaction that caused the blade to glow faintly. I watched as the red deepened into a bright, unnatural crimson, swirling around the metal like a living liquid.

He spins on his heel and walks towards me, caressing the blade lovingly, "Have I have ever hurt you with a silver weapon. It's a very special sort of pain. Here..let me show you." He sliced across my throat and I try to scream, only to have blood overflow from my lips. I know it's only my throat, but my entire body burns and stings just under the surface of my skin. My eyes are starting to roll to the back of my head because I can't breathe through the metallic-tasting fluid. Just as dark dots start to cloud my vision, I'm able to cough up the remaining blood and take a much-needed breath. As I try to catch my breath with my freshly healed but still stinging throat, I hear Marren hum, "Sligh
