Ripper hands me my guns and I take them and check them before I leave the clubhouse with Rebel and Dante behind me. I kiss them both and take Rebel’s face in my hands and look into her honey coloured eyes. “We will find who did this and they will wish for death,” I say to her, her hands placed over mine. I place my forehead against hers, closing my eyes to centre myself. “Can’t have the reaper without his Scythe.” She whispers, and I open my eyes and look into hers. She knows who I am and what I am capable of. They don’t call me Scythe for nothing. The instrument of the Reaper. The instrument of death.

I fell to my knees and gagged.

The sound of his boots faded down the hall. I pressed my back against the wall and slid to the floor. My body was still shaking. Not from fear. Or not only from fear. When his teeth had grazed my mark, something inside me had ignited. A heat that started at my neck and poured down through my chest, my stomach, my thighs. My skin had tightened. My breath had caught. And for one terrible, honest second, I had wanted him closer. The Reaper. The man who’d killed his own family. The man who collected territories like other men collected debts.

No voice came up on her throat. The horror was clear on her sister's face. She died horrified. Serra swallowed and tasted blood on her own mouth. She willed herself to go to Rila but she can't move. Her feet was like cemented on the ground. She heard a loud hiss behind her. She turned around and stunned on what she saw. Hundreds of Reapers fills her sight. Their eyes were ember red, claws so sharp, and shadows that comes out from their body like smoke. They were all looking at her with deadly gaze. But one thing that surprised her was a man that stood in front of the Reapers.

The shadows trembled and thinned, like something vast was pressing against them from the outside. The reaper’s head whipped toward Avery, fury blazing in those pale eyes. “Idiot. You lost him. Do you have any idea what you’ve just done?” A low sound echoed through the Veil. Not a human sound. A growl, wet and hollow, like teeth grinding in an empty skull. Avery’s stomach dropped. “What was that?” The reaper raised their scythe, face grim. “That,” they said, “is what comes hunting lost souls.”

He grew taller and taller, feet sinking into the sand until they became roots rushing toward the World Tree. Marcus—the Scarecrow—roared. A wave of green energy shot from the shore and slammed into the golden blade above. The blade froze in the sky, buzzing and trembling with a sound that shattered village windows. "He’s holding it back!" the Auditor whispered, shielding his eyes. But the Reaper wasn’t just that blade. From its shadow, thousands of golden insects poured down, each the size of a car. Their legs looked razor-sharp, made for cutting, and they swarmed toward the village, wings grinding like machinery.

Nothing happened, I didn’t fall, it was like it passed over me with ease. Amber frowns at me and tries again but the same thing happened. Then a see the light that belonged to Tasha, she wasn’t far away, her hands were outstretched. I had no idea what she was doing but it was working. “REAPER!” I scream out hoping that she was here. Still there was silence, but I feel my bones crack, signalling my shift. How was it possible if Reaper wasn’t here? Actually, I don’t care, I was going to tear Amber apart.

But before he could complete his sentence, his eyes widened in horror. Dabria had stabbed his dark soul with the dagger of Eve. Dabria pulled the dagger out and stepped away from him. Dark flames engulfed Adrian's dark soul. His horrified screams shook the Karts pack lands. "You forgot again that I am not just a vampire. I am a reaper vampire hybrid. And as a reaper, I can kill you with whatever weapon I possess." Dabria finally answered the question Adrian asked her right before his soul was completely burnt.
