Anne only replied to Jack's words with a glimpse of a smile. Out of Anne's expectation, when they arrived, it turned out that they were not alone. There were about twenty people there. Instead of feeling happy and safe, Anne felt scared and wanted to run away. The reason was because those people wore black robes with pointed hoods that almost covered half of their faces. From their posture, Anne could guess that they were men and women. Lighting torches were planted all around them. And the center of Anne's attention was a giant stone in the shape of an owl.

Anxious anticipation mingled with dread as I approached, my curiosity warring with a growing sense of unease. With each step closer, my heart hammered in my chest, and a sense of impending horror gripped me. Inside the transparent enclosure, I saw shapes that made my stomach churn and my skin crawl. They were once human beings, transformed through an experiment they never consented to. The mutation had distorted them into grotesque creatures that resembled the mythical werewolves of old tales. Their bodies were covered in thick, matted fur, their muscles bulging with unnatural strength. Their eyes, once filled with humanity, now glowed with an unsettling, feral light.

The next day, the little girl brought several friends. Although her friends all looked strange and grotesque. There was a hanged ghost dragging an extra-long tongue, a water ghost soaked from head to toe. And a pile of… uh… bloodied meat paste. But the one thing they shared was that they all wore identical red bridal dresses. I felt sorry for them, so I made each of them a super deluxe mega burrito. The kind with loads of ingredients. It was holding a lit torch, the flickering light casting eerie shadows across its creepy face. After a few seconds, Valeria noticed a folded note sticking out of the doll’s chest pocket. She quickly pulled it out, took the torch from its hand, and moved to a brighter part of the room to read it.

I hummed softly in return, a silent acknowledgment. “Alex, look!!” Orion squealed, pointing towards a booth that sold stuffed creatures, orcs, cats, and bats, with big plastic eyes and thread smiles, “It looks like the ones from the movies.” “Let’s go” He beamed, already striding ahead as if leading a parade. “Let’s go!” Alex followed without a word, as if the command had been law. I chuckled. He really was amazed by the smallest things. Somehow, that loosened something in me… just a bit.

With these dreading thoughts resounding like a broken plaque in my mind, I trudged on towards the very step of the gates. I rounded the corner to find a dimly lit porch. Yet, when as soon as I stepped my toes an inch before it, it swung open, revealing a single stone column pedestal that stands in the center bearing an object that glinted dully in the faint light. Sitting on its frame, unattended, and seemingly forgotten will be probably the most surprising object I would lay my eyes in this dangerous and sinister complex arena. It was a stuffed toy — a brown teddy bear to be exact.

Ezra and I went inside the horror booth, but it wasn't scary like I thought. I'm not really fond of scary things, but this one I don't hate at all. "These things look interesting. Do you think they'll let me borrow this after the school festival?" I turned around to see Ezra holding the skulls decoration that he picked up from the ground.
