SINFUL SALVATION
I sat on the sofa, staring at the clock on the wall.
The minutes crawled by.
One hour. Two hours. Three.
I drank my tea. I paced the floor. I talked to the baby, telling him about the man who was out there, fighting for us.
And then, at exactly 10:47 PM, my phone buzzed.
It was a text message from an unknown number.
“He’s not coming back, little freak. You’re mine now.”
My blood turned to ice.
I stared at the screen, my hands shaking, my heart pounding so hard I thought it would explode.
