The grin on my face unconsciously widened, and I brought the book to my nose, sniffing it in.

The book was so good." "You read?" I asked. I had never seen any book in her apartment or caught her with a book. "Yes." She blushed, then quietly. "Romance books." "You don't strike me as the romance type." I looked at her intently. "Is it one of those raunchy books with shirtless men carrying scabbards on the cover."

She looked at Nora and Kael as if they were total strangers. ​"Can I help you find a book?" Mia asked, her voice sweet and hollow. "We just got a new shipment of 'Billionaire Sci-Fi'." ​Nora’s heart stopped. The "Hard Reboot" hadn't saved them. She practically fell into the first available empty seat she could find, three rows from the front, dropping her satchel to the floor with a thud. The air in the room had changed. It’s a sci-fi adventure romance that he’d found hidden in Eliza’s bookcase a couple of days ago. An hour or so later and Kai returns with two large suitcases. “Hey, is everything okay?” Kai asks quietly, looking at the bedroom door which was ajar, “You’re out here and she isn’t?” Ash nods, smirking,

But obliging my curiosity, she tilted the cover and let me read the title. “How to lose an alien prince in 30 days?” I read out loud, frowning. “Sci-fi?” I’d pegged her as more of a murder/mystery myself. “No, romance,” she replied, never taking her eyes off the page. I tried to hide my surprise. She didn’t look like the type of woman who believed in “knights in shining armor” or “love conquers all”. She looked rational, strong, and independent. But it had me wondering what she DID believe in…

"But I can promise that whatever happens..." He squeezed his hand. "You won't face it alone." Something inside Cassian cracked. Like an old wound finally beginning to heal.
