“Scott… I don’t fully understand this either. But I believe in you.” Scott looked away, overwhelmed. The weight of everything pressed down like a mountain. But then he saw Larkam’s body, the shattered glass, the haunted mansion still pulsing with darkness. He clenched his jaw. Then raised his eyes. “What do you want me to do?” Trish stepped forward with Larkam’s bag of relics. “I can’t do this alone. I need your help. We need your help.” Scott took a breath. A fire lit behind his eyes. “Okay. What do we have to do?”33

The blast caught the attention of the masses of rampaging Kaiju on the streets. Bonnie shielded her eyes from the beacon’s brightness and hoped that it would be their salvation. The beacon dispersed to reveal a six-foot-tall figure in blue and gold armor with a metallic blue tail and held a trident in his hands. “Taylor?” John asked. He was not that surprised after all that he had seen. “Well,” Bonnie said under her breath. She was speechless by Taylor’s dramatic entrance. “Hey, guys,” Taylor smirked. “Guess who found Barracuda?”

If I had not seen those photos, I would have believed him completely. Love of his life. What a joke! Scott looked into my eyes and chuckled. “I know that you want me to pamper you whenever you ask such questions.” He drew closer to kiss me. But suddenly, thunder boomed. By pure reflex, I hid myself under the blanket. I had not cowered in fear of thunder in three years. As a child, I would crawl into my mother’s bed during thunderstorms. After she passed away, I thought that I could find that same sort of safety from Scott, but that safety was an illusion. I started crying uncontrollably.
