"We were sent to talk!" "You were sent to spy. And now you'll leave with a message." Xavier looked up. "Bring him. Let the rest scatter." Tala and Rye dropped into view, pulling the other scouts to their feet, binding their hands with reinforced cloth. "What should we do with the parchment?" Tala asked, holding up the fake letter.

Now, the only Alpha after my life was Dominic. “I could sail this sea with my eyes closed,” Scout boasted. “Not in the dark,” I said absently. “Even in the dark,” he replied confidently. “Why do you think they call me Scout? I’ve got the sharpest eyesight known to werewolves.” “Great,” I replied indifferently. “So, are you going to pay me now or what?” I rolled my eyes. “We’re not even halfway there yet.” “Doesn’t matter. I’m horny as fuck right now and I need some sugar.”

Out of curiosity, Lars levitated to grab it. "What is it?" Sophia asked. "I don't know, it's a... book." It was a red covered notebook, containing names, dates, a picture and short profiles. There were a mix of men and women with different ages and professions. Lars wasn't sure what these meant until he showed it to Sophia. She seemed to recognize some of the faces in the book, and it made her horrified of something. "These are... deceased Scions." Lars could felt his heart stopped. "W - What? Are you sure?"

“Like a present.” “Viking?” Zoe paused next to his work area, and he looked up from the butterfly tat that he was inking on a woman’s lower back, his red hair as wild as ever. “Can you listen for Keira? She’s sleeping, and I think she’s out for at least two hours, but can you just stay alert? I’ll be back in a few minutes.” “Two minutes,” Scars corrected her. “Scout’s Honor.” “You were a Boy Scout?” Zoe asked him skeptically. “Tidy little uniform and badges and making fire by rubbing two sticks together ?”

Queen said with certainty. "Oh, okay. Well, you have put me at ease," Shawn replied. "How's your shoulder?" Queen asked. "Much better, turns out that he's a doctor," Shawn said. "Yeah, he must have a lot of experience," she replied. They both waited for Black Axe while he went into the room to ask Ace about the flash drive. When Ace saw the flash drive, he took hold of it and stared at it. "This looks familiar." He said. "Yes, Scorpion, it is. Do you know the fifth password?" Black asked.

“Kai is my lover, and the two alphas are mates. It’s… complicated, but I’d be very thankful.” The scout’s eyebrows shoot up as she hears Dereck. She then considers me and Kai once more before shaking her head in disbelief and then replies, “then I’ll request enough for everyone. I never thought two alphas could be mates, but you were one to befriend the oddest of people all the time, so I’m not surprised.” At last, the scout stops just outside a pair of large doors. She gives it a knock and then, with a loud voice, she says, “the alphas and Dereck are here now.”

A fight had just ended—judging by the broken table and the blood on the walls—and the victor now sat in the corner booth, flanked by his men and nursing a cut across his cheek like a war medal. Xavier leaned back into the cracked leather seat, golden eyes gleaming in the dim light as he lit a cigar. His knuckles were bruised, his jaw tense. Beside him, Kade his best friend and right hand man, poured whiskey into two chipped glasses, his expression unreadable. A scout burst into the tavern, breathless, eyes wide. “You’re not going to believe what I just heard.” Xavier didn’t flinch. “Try me.” The scout licked his lips. “Valen territory has a new Alpha. Rayne Valen.”
