He opened his eyes wide and faced Sophie. "What the hell is this?" he hit the vial away from Sophie's hand. The vial rolled on the ground but the content didn't spill. Scott ran past Sophie to reach it. Sophie pulled him back throwing him off his feet. She grabbed the vial. Scott quickly stood up and ran the other way. He panted heavily looking behind him with his face clearly depicting fear. "What's happening?" Alpha Jones sprang up from his throne. Sophie ignored him and rushed after Scott. Scott headed to the door. He looked at Sophie behind him and tripped over.

Coming to clean up. But then Lucas turned. His eyes fell on the desk, on the silver locket Marcus had dropped. He walked over, picked it up, and pried it open. Under the scrap of silk with the coordinates, there was a small, black electronic key. A little green light on it blinked. "He wasn't just talking about himself," Lucas said, his face going chalk-white. He held up the key. A tiny screen on it glowed with red numbers, counting down. VANCE SECURITY PROTOCOL: FINAL SOLUTION ACTIVE. DETONATION IN: 120 SECONDS.

Scar took a sharp indrawn breath that was halfway to a sob as she felt those massive jaws open, and the wet scrape of fangs against one side of her neck. On the other she felt hot, wet tongue, and more teeth. Her chest heaved and she couldn’t get enough air, but she didn’t dare move. Her fingernails dug sharp furrows into tree bark with the effort it took not to scream. She waited for the wolf to bite down and end it all. And waited.
