“I am festive.” Sebastian lost. The sledding hill was chaos. Noelle screamed with laughter. Nyra laughed when they crashed. Sebastian spent the entire time bracing for bullets that never came. “You’re stiff,” Nyra told him as they trudged back up the hill. “I don’t relax around enemies.” “Good,” she said. “I’d hate to bore you.” They crashed again. The bank is exactly as abandoned as Dexter promised. Broken windows, graffiti-covered walls, the hollow shell of a building that once meant something. Seb growled low into the dark room. He lowered the gun to his side and stepped directly into my space. He didn't look at the fleeing men. His dark eyes locked onto mine, burning with a wild, volatile mixture of raw grief, violent possessiveness, and lethal obsession. “You,” Seb whispered rasply. My throat tightened, my heart hammering against my ribs. “Sebastian.” Seb took another step forward, his large, calloused hand reaching out to grab my wrist in a crushing grip, yanking my body straight against his broad chest.

Without looking at the screen, he answers—already desperate to end the call. “This is Sebastian.” Sebastian greets with fake enthusiasm. “I see you’re not sacrificed to the god of plastic bosoms and flat asses.” Grace Keller sasses over the speakerphone, referring to Sebastian’s night, assumed spent with Kellie Cardin, his current fling. “The witch hasn’t bled me or plucked my heart from my chest as yet, mother.” Sebastian muses, regarding Grace’s unequivocal detestation, for the lawyer he knocked boots with.

He saw the determination in Sebastian’s eyes, but beneath that… he also sensed something darker. “I want what’s best for my daughter,” Max said firmly. “She’s everything to me.” “And she’s everything to me too,” Sebastian replied, his voice low. “I’ll never let anyone hurt her. Sebastian cut in with a cold voice. Xavier pushed me away slightly to stop, his eyes blazing with hunger and his fingers squeezed my hip in dominance. He grinned before licking at my lip corner, tasting the salvia left by our kiss in frenzy. He brushed my cheek fondly before switch his glance behind me. I snapped my head back to look at Sebastian, who stood in a short distance, arched his brow at me with a meaningful wink. “Time for serious business.” He said to Xavier. Xavier rolled his eyes and let me out of his hug with a huff, asking Sebastian in a severe tone, “You heard so?”
