"There's a second copy." She glance briefly at where I'm pointing, checking the book. It's the same. She picks it up and let's go of the one we're both holding. Flipping though the pages, her brows knits in confusion. "Since you saw the two copies, why didn't you just pick the second?" I smooth the book on my hands and stare down at her. "I like it more when I take something from your hand and watch you settle for the second option." "You're an asshole."

It felt like I had died and been brought back to life for a long time. God didn't want me to leave this world just yet. After my conscience met my mother for the first time, I felt a dream. Some supernatural shit like when a hero failed to save the world, they would meet someone who never wants them to give up and gives a second chance. It seemed like forever, but I finally opened my eyes. It was a blur until I focused on the bright light above me. Was this the light that brought me back?

"Just tell me." Ivy is used to Cela's lack of emotion. As her editor, she's mastered handling her so well. "Your second book is selling faster than the first one. Only three branches of the bookstore have not confirmed the final sales yet as of 5PM today but the other seven already did!" she told the first good news. "Really?" Cela asked in a casual tone but a smile shortly appeared on her face after realizing she's having a back-to-back success.

I didn't do anything wrong. "And what happened to that old ruthless side of you? You're not the same person I used to know. I can't forgive all the things you've put me through in this lifetime." Madelyn took the book from the table and immediately rushed into the room, forcefully closing the door. She leaned against the door, clutching her chest and taking deep breaths. Her heart was pounding.

Unexpectedly, Rebecca had the audacity to show up at my doorstep, shamelessly wailing outside the Hale Group's building. "I was blind before! I couldn't see the scheme those two snakes were running. 15 minutes later After the old maiden had left – I did not even get her name , but I am sure I will see her again – I decided to listen to her wise words and do some thing that would definitely take my mind off Alexander. I can't believe with my two eyes that there was a section like this in a bookstore. Am I that innocent to know about what is this?

The book is published on a Tuesday in October. It arrives in boxes at the foundation. Real physical books with my name on the cover and the story of everything that came after inside. The second book. The one about healing and ice rituals and children growing up and the specific mundane work of choosing someone again and again.

I sat on the ground for as long as I needed, before changing back into my clothes and heading back into the house, and the scent that welcomed me as soon as I stepped into the living room told me my mate was here not too long ago.
